This actually really makes me sick. Since when is okay to commodify other people’s misfortune.
Donating a portion of the proceeds to a non-profit does not erase the fact that this company is trying to make some kind of profit on a design that mocks street-living.
Would you be okay with people making lampshades with photos of earthquake-torn Haiti and hawking them as a luxury good?
People need to think more and really consider what it means to be most fortunate in a world where the majority of people are less fortunate than you are.
Why can’t you just make an otherwise lovely product and donate to the same organization, without making such an erroneous statement?
