

This is the center square of Santa Marta, a community in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, after a facade make-over by Favela Painting.
Started by Dutch designers Jeroen Koolhas and Dre Urhahn, the Favela Painting projects aim to bring works of art to the slum neighborhoods of Brazil. What a fabulous blend of colors!

i would love to see before images. i’ve been to rio before and this is an incredible overhaul.
Gosh, favelas can be such terrible places with the violence and drugs and stuff but this is just beautiful. A splash of colour in all the bieges and browns of the surrounding houses. Charmant!
